Game is a game that many have been enjoying as far back at the 1400s. The sport has evolved in many ways over the years, but remains both a relaxing and involved game. Keep reading for some interesting insight into how to better your golf game.

Try to ensure that you hold the golf club properly. The grip of the club should be snugly in your palms, with both thumbs aiming toward the clubhead. Your two hands should touch each other. For a longer drive, hold the handle a but higher up.

If you have a slicing issue, try moving your front foot slightly closer to your golf ball. Closing your stance is the best way to balance your spin and keep the ball from slicing.

All of your muscles, in particular trunk and legs, need to be involved in order to achieve a powerful swing. You need to whip your body around during the swing, deriving strength from your legs as they push against the ground.

Many people find that using the same exact ball position is appropriate no matter what shot is taken. This will help you stay consistent, and ingrain your stance. When you need more height, bring your back foot toward the front and increase the height but keep the ball in position. This will give you the ability to use the right club for each shot.

Slicing can easily be avoided with practice. Slicing is cause by the club hitting the ball incorrectly and sending it to the right. Your hips, knees and shoulders should all be parallel with the line of target. Use your arms and hands on the downswing, instead of your shoulders and body.

If you wear a size X shoe, buy size X+1 shoes in order to account for foot expansion during your walk around the course. If you buy golf shoes that fit you perfectly in the store, you may be very sorry and very uncomfortable by the end of your golf game!

Find a set that is best for you and your needs. Remember, people a hundred years ago were playing with wooden clubs. Do you really need to play with fancy clubs now?

Each golf club comes with a place that is considered the “sweet spot”. This is a point on the club where a strike will have a perfectly accurate swing. Practice with these clubs to make sure you know where your sweet spot is and how to hit it each time.

Spice up your next round with the guys by putting a little reward on the line. Whether it is lunch or drinks, competing for more than just the best score will get everyone more excited about the game. The prize doesn’t need to be expensive, just playing for a reward can make a usual weekend round more exciting.

If you want to improve the quality of your swing, you should learn to put the full force of your body into the motion. Inexperienced golfers often mistakenly believe that power should come only from the arms. However, unless you use your entire body, your swing will be weak. Moving the whole body with the club motion is much more effective.
